Gifts : Mothers Reflect on How Children with Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives

The Gifts Outreach program provides complimentary copies of Gifts to organizations which serve parents facing a new diagnosis of Down syndrome for their child, either prenatally or postnatally. We believe that the stories in the book provide a vital companionship and support for such parents.

Nash is ready, are we?

First. Grade.

Tonight at the Ice cream social the teacher/student list went up. It was almost like when I checked for my final grades in law school, and just as stressful.

Nash has a wonderful teacher with 10 yrs exp. and a Masters in General Ed., an inclusion teacher that is young and excited about inclusionary practices, and a part time aide to gently guide his sometimes stubborn soul into the right area.

So many students said "Hi Nash" at school. The boy that shares a locker with Nash came up and said hi, and his Dad enthusiastically introduced himself to us and Nash.

Nash didn't want to leave tonight after our visit back to school.

First grade, here we come!

a desk! He loved his books on his desk. They already have him seated with a gal he loved from his K class, and 5 others from his K class are in his first grade.

Thank you for sharing. Our DS son will start school in a year or so and we're so anxious about it. Reading your entries is a huge help.
